Hugh M. Lamb, age 89, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday March 19, 2004 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. He was born on May 14, 1914 in Knox County to the late Robert and Opal (Strong) Lamb. Hugh was a 53 year member of Thrall Lodge #170 F&AM and Ann Hill Chapter #81 Order of Eastern Star. He was also a 55-year member of the Iron Workers Local #172 in Columbus.
He is survived by his loving wife Mabel (Reams) Lamb, a son, Richard (Shirley) Lamb of Fredericktown, two daughters, Betty Jane (Bill) Follett of Fredericktown, Eleanor Joetta (Tom) Baker of Farmington Hills, Michigan, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, seven brothers, Harold Lamb of Newark, Chet (Mary) Lamb of Sacramento, California, John Lamb of Fredericktown, Arthur Lamb of Mount Vernon, Russell (Viola) Lamb of Fredericktown, Charles (Cathy) Lamb of Columbus, Floyd (Pat) Lamb of Lexington, two sisters, Mary Danals of Kennersville, North Carolina and Edna (Mac) Mc Morris of Florida.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Lamb, Lena Lamb, Lila Lamb, Ruth Heslep and a brother, Lloyd Lamb.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 PM with Rev. Leon Hartwig officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
