Huey C. Collier, 77, of Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at his residence with his loving family at his side.

He was born on February 6, 1939 in Vinton County, Ohio, son of the late Preston and Dorothy (Daniels) Collier.  He was a graduate of the McArthur High School in Vinton County and following graduation he moved to the Delaware County area.  He enjoyed traveling and driving truck and went to work for the Weyerhaeuser Company in Delaware, for over 24 years, logging more than 3.2 million miles driven.  He retired in 2005.  In his earlier years, he played the guitar.  He also was a Hamm radio operator.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, watching WWE wrestling and riding motorcycle’s.  He was an animal lover and loved to wear baseball hats.  He was a member of the Delaware Fraternal Order of Eagles AERIE#376, where he was the entertainment chairman and also enjoyed dancing at the club, a member of the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge #1640 and a member of  SourcePoint of Delaware County.  He loved traveling to Texas to visit family and for the past few years spent the winters in Florida.

Surviving is his devoted wife of almost 57 years, Mae G. (Heinlen) Collier, whom he married on October 10, 1959; one daughter, Deborah (David) Mathews of San Antonio, Texas; one son, Steven (Monica) Collier of Grove City, Ohio; four grandchildren, Danielle, David Michael, Dalton and Shawn; five great grandchildrend, Jared, Darian, Bryce, Reagan and Noah; two brothers, Dean (Teresa) Collier of McArthur, Ohio and David (Jeannine) Collier of Marysville; three sisters, Virginia (Larry) Buell of Galena, Eva (Jim) Swayers of London, Ohio and Bonnie (Eddie) Channell of Marysville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents that have preceded him in death were two sons, Russell Clinton Collier and Thomas Ray Collier; one brother, Danny Collier; and one sister, Maryanne Phillips.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Huey Collier will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016 in the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, with Rev. Josh Walker, pastor of Valleyview Evangelical Friends Church, Delaware, officiating.

The Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, Delaware, is honored to be serving the family of Huey Collier.
