Howard N. Fisher

Howard N. Fisher, age 93 of Marengo, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Grant Medical Center.
He was born on April 11, 1913 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John M. and Margaret A. (Ferrell) Fisher. A graduate of Columbus South High School with the Class of 1931, he went on to serve his country as a US Army Veteran of WW II, participating in the European and Pacific Theaters.
A machinist by trade, he retired from Columbus Auto Parts, served 25 years as the Secretary for Local No 55 IAM, and was a Vice President for the Union Label. An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, fishing and camping near Lake Snowden near Athens. He was a Member of American Legion Post #710 of Marengo, V. F. W. Post #8054 of Mt. Gilead, and the Marengo United Methodist Church.
Survived by his wife of 43 years: Ruth (Zimmerman) Fisher, Daughters: Sharon (Robert) Doolin of Cardington, Marie (Richard) Carter of Columbus, 8 Grandchildren, numerous Great-grandchildren, and several Great-great-grandchildren, Sister-in-laws: Esther Fisher, WI, Dorothy Fisher of Groveport.
Preceded in death by wives: Margaret (Cuckler), Vera (Williams), Daughter: Martha Thompson, Brothers: Arthur, John, Herbert, Richard, Sisters: Mary Ann Pierce and Margaret R. Sheets.
Friends may call Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229 in Marengo. Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:30 a.m. at the Marengo United Methodist Church, with Rev’s Robert Ludwig and Beverly Hall officiating, interment with military honors will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
