Hollie Gamble, age 83 of Marion, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Heartland of Marion.

Hollie was born in Salyersville, KY on July 13, 1937, the son of John and Gencie (Blanton) Gamble. On March 13, 1965, he was united in marriage to Beverly Jane Williams and they have shared 55 years of marriage.

Hollie was an outdoorsman that loved to track the weather and study the Farmer’s Almanac. His vegetable gardens flourished year after year and his love of birds was known by all. Hollie was the kind of guy that never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Among his many talents was being able to build anything. He was gifted at quilting and enjoyed old Westerns.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Beverly Jane Gamble; his children: DeWayne Gamble and Brenda (Sean) Smith; grandchildren: Molly (Hunter) Laughlin and Kendal Smith; siblings: Tollie (Ethel) Gamble, Hazel Gamble, and Ruthie Guy.

Hollie is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Hershel, Elmer, Hassel, and Jeffie “Jay” Gamble and Burtie Roark.

Funeral service will be held Friday, October 30, 2020 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, 360 East Center St., Marion at 11AM with Pastor Paul Priddy; Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.

  • I am Dean Aldridge, Minnie Gamble’s son and step son of Jeffie Gamble. So sorry to hear of the loss of Hollie. I remember seeing Hollie several times as I was growing up in Marion. Hollie was always a very cheerful and friendly person. I’m sure Hollie will be missed by many people. Maybe Jeffie and Hollie are playing cards in heaven. Rest In Peace my friend.

  • I am so sorry for your families loss. I knew Mr. Gamble from working with his son Dewayne at Lowe’s. He was always a joy to see. He will be missed by all that knew him.

    I was saddened when I read this. Thinking of you all. Hollie was such a joyful soul and I will never forget all the times he ran us around in “old Nellie”. Every time we ran into each other at the store, we would catch up. He was always happy. Some of my best memories are with your family, love and hugs to you all. Thank you Hollie, Rest in Heaven!

    I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Hollie. Beverly I’m not sure if you remember me but you used to baby sit my brother sister and I ( Diana,Karen and Kevin Griffin) If I remember right Hollie had made me a quilt for my son when he was born, about 11years ago and I still have it. Lots of thoughts and prayers for you and your family

    I told mom and dad today about his passing and Dad immediately started telling stories about his childhood with Hollie and about him putting 10cents worth of gas in his car every Sunday at a little store down the road.
