Hiram Smetzer Jr, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Holmes County Home in Holmesville, Ohio.  He was born on June 29, 1926 in Killbuck, Ohio to the late Hiram and Gladys (Bevington) Smetzer Sr.

Hiram retired from Mansfield Pottery in 1988 after 32 years of employment.  He was proud of serving his country in WWII and Korea in the United States Army.    He was a member of the Nashville Church of Christ, and a life-member of the VFW Post 8586 in Perrysville and American Legion Post 257 in Loudonville.  Hiram loved fishing, camping, watching races, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He will be missed by his daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Martin of Glenmont, Ohio, Kim Buchanan of Sayre, Pennsylvania; deceased son, Danny Smetzer; a deceased great-granddaughter, Haley Bunting; brothers, Lee Smetzer, Roy Smetzer; a sister, Evelyn Barns; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 deceased brothers; 3 deceased sisters; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Holmes County Home for all the Love and Care they provided Hiram.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11:30 AM at the Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, Ohio, with Brad Dodson officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Loudonville American Legion and the Perrysville VFW.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holmes County Home; 7260 St. Rt. 83 Holmesville, Ohio 44633.
