Herbert D. Murray, Jr., age 51, died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at home in Delaware, Ohio, surrounded by his family, after an extended illness.

He was born on September 17, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio to Gertrude (nee Burger) Murray and the late Herbert D. Murray, Sr. Herb graduated from Parma Senior High School and then worked as a mechanic for over a decade. He then changed careers and worked as a heavy equipment operator until he opened Murray Excavation where he stayed until 2002. After his business closed, Herb worked again as a heavy equipment operator until he became ill.

He loved riding his Indian motorcycle, riding dirt bikes for fun with his friends and racing in motocross races. Always willing to help a friend in need, he also enjoyed grilling out for gatherings with family and friends. Herb especially enjoyed taking his camper to the Carolina’s with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving Mother, Gertrude, his sister Pam Lammon and her husband Wes, their children, Justin Barbosky, Drew (Heather) Lammon, Sarah Barbosky, Michelle (Adam) Brown and Ryan Barbosky. Herb was also the beloved step-father of Jessica Stout and “Papa” to Meaghan, Nathan, Emmah and Samantha. He was loved and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Dale Murray, Sr.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Herb’s graveside service on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the Ashley Union Cemetery, 9841 Ashley Rd at SR 229, Ashley, OH 43003. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center in Delaware.
