Herbert A. VanDyke, age 68 of Cardington, died Saturday at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born on July 13, 1942 in Columbus to the late Howard and Edith (Thompson) VanDyke. Co-owner and operator of Skyworkers Services. He attended Alum Creek Friends Church.

Herbert enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, rebuilding classic cars and fishing with his daughters at Lake Erie, Delaware Dam or local ponds.

Survived by daughters: Lury (Steven) Christian of Orlando, FL., Kasandra (Brent) Gross of Marion. Kim Carr of LaRue; grandchildren: Michael, Michelle, Nicholas, Logan, Zackary; brothers: Everett (Carol) of Worthington, Kenny (Marilyn) of Columbus, Jerry (Lois) of Westerville; sisters: Linda VanDyke of Pataskala, Rita (Harold) Hamm of Columbus.

Preceded in death by son: Peter; brothers Walter, Gerald; sisters: Genevieve Kelsey, Charlotte Sammons.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5- 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware where services will be held Thursday 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Greg Rice officiating. Interment to follow in the Alum Creek Friends Church Cemetery, Marengo.
