MANSFIELD: Henry J. Megger, age 86, of Lexington, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Henry was a hardworking, dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a strong work ethic and strived to teach the importance of that trait into his sons. Born July 6, 1930 in Haselunne, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1953 and became a U.S. citizen. Henry served for three years in the United States Army and was discharged with honors. He retired after 43 years as a tool and die maker with Therm-O-Disc. Henry was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish in Lexington, Ohio.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Eva Megger; children Rainer (Christina), Edgar (Juanita), Herbert (Donna), Eric (Ronda), and his loving grandchildren, Aaron, Erica, Ryan, Danielle, Haley, Cameron, Amanda, and Jennifer; sister, Mia (Megger) Leigers, and brother Johannes Megger.
He was predeceased in death by his brother Josef Megger, sister Elisabeth Schummann, grandson Matthew Megger, granddaughter Michelle Megger, and daughter-in-law Terri Megger.
The family would like to thank Brethan Care Nursing Home and staff of Ohio Health Hospice, nurses and doctors, as well as special neighbors and friends, Mark, Pat and Emma Burlee, and Sharon Barron for all their care over the years for Henry and Eva. The support during this time has been so comforting and helpful.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 10am -12pm at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Father Nelson Beaver will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #535.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Henry’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made through the funeral home.
