Helena B. Priest, age 79, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on August 15, 1940 in Licking County, Ohio the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Hollar) Stafford.

Helena was a 40-year member of Glenwood Chapter #303 Order of Eastern Star where she had served numerous times as Past Worthy Matron.  She also served on several Star Points, held the position of Secretary and Treasurer and in 2008 she served as District #12 President.  In 1993, Helena served as the Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter of Ohio, a position she took great pride in.

Helena was also a long-time member of Central Christian Church of Mount Vernon.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her children; Pam Priest of Howard and Dave (Dawn) Priest of Mount Vernon, six grandchildren, Casey Staats, Dustin Staats and Mackenzie Staats, Hanna (Ian) Douglas, Hunter Priest and Hailey Priest; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Robert) Earlywine of Garden City, Missouri and her companion Ed Mizer.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Priest; a brother, Robert Stafford; two sisters, Rosemary Rine and Patricia Wheeler.

A funeral service and Eastern Star Service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  Mr. Ken Springer will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Helena’s name may be made to the Central Christian Church, 17833 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.

I still remember hanging out at the Shell station and playing around while your Mom and Dad were there, and while my Dad was working there.
