Helen Ruth Woltmann

Helen Ruth Woltmann, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation of Marion. She was born October 11, 1911, in Detroit, Michigan, to Gust and Helene (Hasse) Wolter. A 1933 graduate of Wayne University, she had a B. A. degree cum laude in art.
On March 11, 1938, she married Elmer A. Woltmann of Mt. Clemens, Michigan. They moved to Ohio in 1949 when Elmer became Chief Accounting Officer of Motor Products. He was Manager of Production Control at Whirlpool at the time of his death in 1957.
Mrs. Woltmann’s interests included music, golf, bowling, art and architecture, literature, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, knitting and sewing and working in her yard. She was a member of the Marion Country Club and secretary of its bowling league for 40 years. She was the organist at Salem United Church of Christ for a period of time and then assistant organist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for several years. She was a one-time member of the American Guild of Organists. She was Salem Church treasurer for 15 years.
Her family includes daughter Liane (Virgil) Curren of Marion, sons Ivan (Judith) Woltmann of West Chester and Jeffrey Woltmann of Columbus. She is survived by her grandchildren Karen, Matthew, Jeremy, Chad, Kara and Leah and great-granddaughters Chloe, Jordan, Autumn and Ember. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Mrs. Helen Tripp of West Branch, Michigan, and Mrs. Irma Russell of Taylors, S. Carolina, nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Woltmann’s wishes there will be no calling hours and internment will be private in the Marion Cemetery.
