Helen L. “Porky” Barnett, 83, of Lexington, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at Galion Community Hospital.

Born Oct. 19, 1928 in New Marshfield, she was the daughter of the late Pearl E. and Maxine M. Barnett Taylor. She has joined her loving husband, Sam C. Barnett, who preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 2002 and they were married on Apr. 27, 1946.

Helen was a former member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and previously owned and operated Barnett’s Mink Ranch.

Helen was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by one daughter, Earlene N. “Kitty” Surgener of Mt. Gilead; two grandsons, Travis A. Britnee Miley of Galion and Trent A. Tara Miley of Lexington; four great-grandchildren, Taylor R. Brubaker, Saje, Tanner and Tessa Miley; eight brothers, Robert E. Taylor of Tyler, Texas, Harold D. Eloise Taylor of Lexington, Herman Sharon Taylor of Crown City, Leroy Brenda Taylor of Galion, Tony Taylor, Sam Taylor and Gerald Taylor, all of Fla. and Michael Taylor of Chillicothe and four sisters, Fonnie Robert Thoman of Crown City, Marlene “Molly” Gary Rhodes and Darlene “Dolly” Whitted, both of Proctorville and Brenda Robert Perry of Lexington.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Charles R. Taylor, Delmar L. Taylor and Judy Taylor.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at Crawford County Memory Gardens, near Crestline, with Pastor Gary Lamb-Hart officiating.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion
