Helen J. Gast Towers, age 95, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on February 8, 1916 in Lima, Ohio to the late Frank and Johanna (Kohler) Bosch. Helen worked 27 years as a clerk for Pangles Grocery Store in Lima, Ohio. She enjoyed camping, square dancing, cooking and even water skied at the age of 82. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her children, Chester (Ann) Gast Jr. of Spencerville, Ohio, Rodney (Koneta) Gast of Huntington, West Virginia, Karen (Raymond) McClure of Mount Vernon and Linda (Dennis) Martz Traynor of Fort Jennings, Ohio, a step daughter, Cheryl (Harold McQuire) Towers of Pittsburgh, seventeen grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Bill (Mary Lou) Gast of Ada, sister-in-law, Janet Gast of Dayton and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Wilson Gast Sr., her second husband, David Quentin Towers, two brothers, Edward Bosch and Frank Bosch and a sister, Emma Bice.

Friends may call on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Lima Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Mrs. Sami Luna Hunnicut will be officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Helen J. Gast Towers.
