Helen Foster, 89, of Morrow County died November 23, 2007 in Lewiston, Idaho.

She was born in Williamsport, Ohio, May 23, 1918 to the late Glenn A. and Effie F. (Keyes) Hershner.

Helen was a lifelong resident of Morrow County, until she moved to Idaho, a little more than a year ago, to be near her daughter, Sandee.

She attended a one room school in Williamsport and finished her education at Johnsville, graduating in 1936. Helen was on the girls’ basketball team, while in high school, and was proud of their county championship.

Helen married Stanley C. Foster on March 17, 1940; a union and friendship that lasted 56 years until his passing on May 9, 1996.

She enjoyed playing piano, crocheting, sewing, playing cards, cooking, traveling, and reading.

Helen was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of North Woodbury, where she devoted her time as Sunday school teacher, Church Council member, and generally helping wherever needed.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandee and Jim Wolfinger of Grangeville, Idaho. Three grandchildren: Tara, Amanda and Jared all of Idaho. Three great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard D. and Mary Ellen Hershner of Bellville; a sister-in-law, Amy Hershner of Mt. Gilead; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; cousins; and church friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Leslie “Bill” Hershner and Robert G. Hershner, and one great-granddaughter, Haily.

Friends may call on the family on Thursday, November 29, 2007 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead. Funeral services will be held there on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Shauck Cemetery in Johnsville, Ohio.
