Helen M. Davis
MANSFIELD: Helen M. Davis, 84, of Villa Drive, died Monday evening December 6, 2004 in Lexington Court Care Center following a short illness.
She was born September 27, 1920 in Toledo to Herman and Helen Herrell, and was graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School.
Helen had lived in Toledo most her life, moved to Delta in the early 1970’s and on to Mansfield five years ago. While in Toledo, she had worked in the book department of LaSalle’s Department Store.
She was a member of St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Delta.
Helen played softball early in life, and continued an interest in sports most of her life, becoming a Larry Bird fan, but an even bigger supporter of her grandchildren in their sporting activities.
It was those precious grandchildren that buoyed Helen. She was also an avid flower gardener, and enjoyed reading a good mystery.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Phyllis Davis of Lexington; four grandchildren Scott Holley whom she raised of Phoenix, Arizona, Steve Davis, Patrick and his wife Char Davis, and Jennifer Davis all of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Davis; two daughters Christine Kardos and Nancy Davis; a granddaughter Kasey Kardos; a sister Gladys Johnson; and two brothers Charles and Jim Herrell.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 9, 2004 at Noon in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The Rev. Father Stanley Szybka will officiate. Friends may call the hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions to Catholic Charities may be made at the funeral home.
