Hazel Jane Trefz, 89, of 25 McDavid Drive , Galion, died Monday, December 29, 2003 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Center, Galion.

Born July 18, 1914 in Plymouth, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Claude D. Britton and Emma L. Schnarrenberger Britton.

She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1932. She is a member of First Lutheran Church, Galion; Naomi Chapter # 47 Order of Eastern Star; American Legion Scarbrough Post #243 Auxiliary; Galion Ladies Shrine Club; Galion Golden Age Club.

She worked as a bookkeeper at the former North Electric, Galion for 30 years and retired in 1980 from B & B Products.

Surviving her are two sisters, Mary I. Sullivan, of Galion, Betty J. Teller, of Avon Lake, Ohio and nieces and nephews.

On December 28, 1981 she was preceded in death by her husband Carl H. Trefz, whom she married December 10, 1948, an infant daughter, Joanne E. Trefz; a brother, John C. Britton and a sister, Helen M. Bonner.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Keeler officiating. Interment will be in Caledonia Cemetery.
