Haruko Izaki Kunkle, 89, of Sunbury, Ohio and formally of Charlotte, North Carolina died on April 3, 2021 at her home with her family at her bedside.
She was born in Sasebo, Japan to Ichiji and Wasa Izaki and was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Kunkle, Sr.
Surviving are her loving children, Rumiko Tilley (Wayne Orndorff) of Denver, North Carolina, Alton “Bumper” Kunkle (Maria) of Wenonah, New Jersey, James Kunkle, Jr. (Gina) of Swansea, South Carolina and Ami Norrod (Roman) of Sunbury, Ohio. Haruko was the proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, Stephanie Tilley Johnson (Andrew), Kathryn Tilley, Anna Tilley, Allison Kunkle, James “Jimmy” Kunkle, James Kunkle III (Laura), Jessica “Jessi” Russell (Hunter), Payton Kunkle, Kelsey Shultz, Nickolas Shultz, Gabe Norrod, Grace Norrod, and Charlotte Norrod. She was also the great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren, Ansley, Emmy, Aubrey, Addy, Lincoln, Jacob, Chloe, Elly, Charlee, Jak, and Emmy.
Haruko loved gardening and spending time outdoors. She was a passionate Carolina Panthers fan and enjoyed seeing her many grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in a variety of sporting events. She will be remembered as a compassionate and loving mother and grandmother who, most of all, enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
A private family memorial service will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home of Sunbury is assisting the family.

YAmi & Roman I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure that your mom is looking down with a smile and gratitude for all the love ❤️ that you have showed her through the past. And the best part is she is smiling without feeling any pains or stress at all. She truly for the first time is pain free from our stress and worries.
