Harry L. Davis Sr., age 83, of Medora, IN formerly of Mount Vernon died Friday afternoon, December 4, 2015 at the Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown, IN.  He was born on October 11, 1932 in Knox County to the late Edgar and Jesse (Butler) Davis.

Harry honorably served his country in the Air Force for 20 years.  He was a member of the AmVets in Mount Vernon.

Harry is survived by his children; Ed (Joan Kododo) Davis of Monticello, MN; Debra Davis of Seymour, IN; Harry Davis Jr of Mt. Vernon, OH; Rose (Tony) Brewer of Medora, IN; Craig Davis of Mt. Vernon, OH; Deirdre (Charles) White of Tunkhannock, PA; Michelle (Melvin) King of Tunkhannock, PA; and Amber Davis of Mt. Vernon, Oh. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by his son Douglas Eugene Davis.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon.  Pastor Michael Smith will officiate.  Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.

  • Harry was preceded in death by the love of his life Patty Davis wife of 25 years, his grandson Adam Fox and his granddaughter Angela Mantel. He will be dearly missed by his step-son Gary “gaarryyy” (Toni Lynn) Fox. Grandchildren Erika (Rich) Mason, Patty (kyle) Ashcraft and great-grandchildren Adam Mason, Damion Fox, Azland Mason and Kaeden Ashcraft. Gary will miss serenading everyone with you to the tune of Strawberry Rose! We Love You!
