Harry James “Jim” Marconi

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Harry James “Jim” Marconi, 73, of Ashley, will be held Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, St Rt 3 at St Rt 61, Sunbury, with John Spillman as celebrant.
Jim died peacefully Thursday morning, December 9, 2010 in Columbus, surrounded by his family and friends, following an extended illness. He was born March 20, 1937 in Martins Ferry, the son of the late Harry V. and Katherine (Welter) Marconi. He was a graduate of Warren Consolidated H.S., class of 1955, was a trooper for Ohio State Patrol and retired as an insurance adjuster with Utica Insurance.
He served honorably in the US Air Force reserve, a was a member of the Ashley American Legion, and Union Lodge #1 F & AM of Marietta.
He enjoyed golfing, yard work and gardening with his canine pals Danny and Rico, and Jim really LOVED HIS RAVIOLI!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Elaine (Marconi) Snyder.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife Ruth (Marshall) Marconi, his children Leslie( Rocky) McKinney, Doug (Jason Harrell) Marconi, Carol (Doug) Howell and George Rector; his grandchildren: Nicole”Bee-Bop”, Lisa, George Jr., Hannah and Samuel; former wife Patricia Kelly.
His family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 Noon until time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where Masonic Services will be held at 1:45 p.m.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy in the form of memorials be directed to the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 St Rt 37 E, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
