Harold W. Prosser

ONTARIO: Harold W. Prosser, 91, of Ontario passed away Friday morning, April 28, 2017 in the Arbors at Mifflin.
The son of Harry Prosser and Iona (Steffee) Prosser-Miller, Harold was born March 27, 1926 in Morrow County. He attended Johnsville and Lexington schools where he played basketball and baseball where he was catcher for the Lexington Minutemen. Joining the U.S. Navy he served alongside former President Gerald Ford aboard the Carrier USS Monterey in the south pacific.
For 10 years he worked for the Tappan Company. He then operated heavy equipment for Van Holderman, as well as for other companies. While in construction he assisted in building the Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida, Alum Creek Damn, and Interstate 71. Harold drove for Mansfield Ambulance. He was the third employee hired by the Ontario Police Department, and served over 20 years with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
Married to Shirley Prosser, Harold and Shirley enjoyed vacationing, and took numerous bus trips across the United States.
He was a 32 Degree Mason and a 62 year member of the Mansfield Venus Lodge #152, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union #18, lifetime member of the Ohio State Engineers, and lifetime member of the Mansfield AmVets.
Harold cheered for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cavs, and especially the Indians.
A loving husband, dad, and grandpa, Harold loved the Lord with all of his heart and soul. For over 20 years he regularly attended Berean Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter Janet (Randy) Brown of Ontario, son Hal Prosser of Mansfield; grandchildren Brent (Sarah) Taylor, Carissa Stevens and her fiancé Eric Morris, Eric (Colette) Prosser, Kristopher (Wendi) Prosser, Ashley (Ben) Salyer, and Andrea Tadijanac; numerous great grandchildren; brother Gerald (Peg) Prosser of Florida; nieces, nephews and special friends Chuck Gilbert, Andy Walker, and Rob McClain.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley Prosser who passed away May 8, 2016; son Harold Dean Prosser; and brother Charlie Prosser.
The Prosser family will receive friends Monday, May 1, 2017 from 5-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Masonic services will begin at 8 pm. Funeral services will begin at 11 am Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial with military honors performed by the Bellville American Legion Post #535 will follow in Shauck Cemetery. Pastor Jim Berry will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Berean Baptist Church may be made through the funeral home.
