Harold G. “Bach” Bachelor
March 15, 1921 ‒ December 22, 2013
Harold G. “Bach” Bachelor, 92 years of age, went home to heaven on Saturday, December 21, 2013.
He was born on March 15, 1921 in Jersey Township in Licking County, Ohio. A graduate of Harlem High School in 1940, he then married Doris (Kintz) in 1943. Forever devoted to one another, together they raised two wonderful daughters and enjoyed water skiing, boating, bowling, traveling, serving others, and spoiling grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were active at Peace United Methodist Church in Columbus, the Still Going Strong Club in Westerville, and Country Music Fellowship Organization in Newark, Ohio. He worked with the Maintenance Team at Ross (Abbott) Laboratories before retiring in 1987.
Bach was a true gentleman, echoing the ideals and traits of those of The Greatest Generation. He also enjoyed golfing, good conversation, and sharing memories of days gone by. Never afraid of an adventure, he rode his Honda motorcycle until he was 91 years of age. Humble, but proud, he enjoyed sharing his life’s escapades and the joys of his family. Always willing to share a story or two and with a likeable personality, he was easy to befriend and will truly be missed.
He is now once again reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years, Doris, who passed away on October 13, 2008. He was also preceded in death by precious daughter Karen (Bachelor) Pierson; father and mother Bert and Mary (Fritsche) Bachelor; sisters Lucy Pierce, Hilda McCrary, Helen Clark; and brother Harry.
Those left to cherish his memory include: daughter Luanne Puckett of Westerville; granddaughter Kristin (Daniel) Pike of Lancaster, Kentucky; grandson David Puckett of Clintonville; son-in-law Bob (Linda) Pierson of Westerville; grandson Brian (Meghan) Pierson of Westerville; grandson Greg (Janet) Pierson of Hilliard; and grandson Shawn Pierson of Columbus; Susan Mason of Sunbury; Rozlin Stepp of Delaware; great-grandchildren Courtney, Andrew, Caitlin, Emily, Hunter, Jake, Ezekiel, Tirzah, Doug Jr. (Heidi) , David (Sydney) and Anna; great-great grandson Brandon and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thanks to Cindy (Larry) Downer and Brenda (Joe) Wisehart, as well as the wonderful staffs of Parkside Village and Mt. Carmel Hospice, all of whom shared much love and care in Harold’s final weeks and months.
