Gwen Opel Mann, age 69 of Delaware, died Sunday morning at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

She was born on December 15, 1940 in Delaware to the late Edward Opel and Arlene (Mason) Lerch of Delaware. A lifelong Delaware area resident, graduate of Willis High School in 1958 and she was an office manager for various businesses.

Gwen enjoyed reading, cross stitch, knitting and playing cards and board games, Trivial Pursuit being one of her favorites. An avid bowler Gwen was at one time very active in the Delaware Women’s Bowling Association and she held offices as a board member and president. A Junior Bowling Association Instructor she helped organize the first Junior Bowling Tournament. Gwen was also past president of the Delaware Women’s 600 Bowling Association.

In addition to her mother she is survived by son: Edward (Anne Ward) Mann of Columbus; daughter: Heather Mann of Worthington; brother: Dick (Connie) Opel of Delaware; sister-in-law: Barb Opel of Delaware.

Preceded in death by her brother Larry Opel.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Devore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware. Graveside services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
