Guy Mowery, age 90, of Parrott Street Extension, Mount Vernon, died Thursday June 15, 2006 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon following a brief illness. Guy was born September 21, 1915 in Danville to George and Mae (Ventling) Mowery, was a 1934 graduate of Danville High School and had spent his lifetime in the Knox County area.
Guy was retired for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company in Mount Vernon where he had been employed for 30 years.
He was a 50-year member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are his daughter Jane (Willie) Cobern of Johnsville: his Son Charles Mowery of Mount Vernon; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marvine Mowery, his son Jack Mowery, his daughter Becky Fry, a brother Ralph Mowery and a sister Pauline Ross.
There will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.
