Grace N. Pryor, age 91 of Marengo, passed away Sunday evening December 28, 2014 at Bennington Glen Nursing Center in Marengo.

She was born on April 13, 1923 in Olive Green to the late Clyde and Ida Mae (Hunt) Steck. She was a 1941 graduate of Marengo High School. She had worked as a filler at Nestle, Bus Driver for Marengo/Highland Schools and owner of Pryor’s Bottled Gas for 43 years. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

Grace loved to go out to eat and could be found on Friday and Saturday evening with her sister at local eateries enjoying the fare. Grace also raised and canned vegetables from her garden and enjoyed going to craft shows. She loved watching and going to the Cincinnati Reds ballgames and the games of her grandchildren. Traveling to different places made her happy and she enjoyed following her son James to wherever he was playing in the country band.

She is survived by sons: Larry (Connie) Pryor of Mount Gilead , James (Bonnie) Pryor of Glouster ; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; sister: Edna Mae “Sadie” Fitzpatrick of Marengo.

Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years: Wilbur L. “Webb” Pryor on December 26, 1993; brother: Fred Steck; 2 grandsons.

Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 73 W. Walnut, Marengo. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the Marengo United Methodist Church with Pastor Jan Sprague officiating. Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.

    We are so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I have known Grace most of my life and loved talking to her . I know we will all miss her.
    Losing our parents is so hard and the memories must keep them in our hearts. I know she is smiling down on you and will watch over all of you.
    I have a lot of wonderful memories of her so she will never be forgotten.

Grace was one of the finest women I ever met in my entire life.I am at a loss for words really, but I want you to know that I am thinking of each and everyone of you during this time. I hope and pray that her memory always warms your heart and that you are able to draw from her example that she set before you . She was strong, she was firm, she was amazing, she was full of love for each and every one of you. She will be missed by all, but remember she is free from pain and suffering.   • It seems all the grand dames and guys of when I was a kid growing up is slowly but, surely passing on. Grace, was a lady and always had a smile. I loved to hear her laugh. To the Pryor family my heart is with your family. Theres alot of Marengo friends in heaven getting to gether and watching down on earth on their loved ones and friends. Zadie,you were a great sister and I know you will miss her and your eating out and running around together. Family is so important. Prayers from the Lewis and Blair families.
