Goldie Marie Lambert
April 18, 1922 ‒ May 26, 2018
MANSFIELD: Goldie Marie Lambert, 96, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at OhioHealth Hospital Mansfield.
Mrs. Lambert, who was born in Soldier, Kentucky on April 18, 1922 was a long-time resident of Mansfield, having moved to Ohio with her family in the summer of 1955.
Goldie and her husband, Elmer, were childhood sweethearts who were married in Maysville, Kentucky on August 18, 1943. During World War II Mrs. Lambert worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio while Mr. Lambert served in the United States Army in England, France and Germany.
Mr. and Mrs. Lambert lived in Kentucky and West Virginia in the early years of their marriage where he was a farmer and then a coal miner. They moved to Mansfield in 1956 where Mr. Lambert worked at Dominion Electric (five years) and Empire Reeves Steel Mill (25 years) until his retirement in 1983.
During those years Mrs. Lambert was a devoted wife and mother who took good care of her husband for 54 years of their marriage until he passed away in 1997. She was proud of saying that she raised three healthy and successful boys and one caring and thoughtful daughter. She loved old time country music, shopping for bargains at almost any discount store and was very proud of her Kentucky heritage. Pride in that heritage explains why she read her favorite magazine, The Kentucky Explorer, with great passion and enthusiasm.
She is survived by her four children, Dorothy “Dottie” Collins of Ontario, Charles E. (Jane) Lambert of Mansfield, Glenn E. and (Barbara) Lambert of Springfield, and Gary L. (Diane) Lambert of Englewood; eight grandchildren Aaron Collins, Jennifer Collins, Jason Lambert, Stephanie Smith, Charles Lambert, Jr., Adam Lambert, Emily Lambert, and Melissa Lambert; four great-grandchildren Lily Kaylin, Aiden, Gavin, and Xander; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
