Gloria Elaine Tapper, age 79, of 135 Ohio Street, Mansfield, died Saturday morning January 20, 2001 in her home following a long illness.

She was born October 25, 1921 in Maumee to Roy and Marie Sponseller Raby, and was graduated from Springfield High School in Maumee in 1939.

A Mansfield area resident since 1940, Gloria had worked as sales clerk with J.C. Penney.

An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed crafts and her membership at Southside Christian Church.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law Sandee & Bob Crowl and Lindee Webb all of Mansfield and Terri & George Obert of Columbus; 3 grandchildren and their spouses Tina & Jay Graves, Keesha & Brad Knox and Alex & Janell Crowl; three great grandchildren Cody Stull, Megan Knox and Evan Knox; and two half brothers and sisters-in-law Jack & Jan Hibbs of Cuyahoga Falls and George & Alice Hibbs of Maryland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul B. Tapper on December 6, 1988; a daughter Pamela Jo Tapper; a sister Madalynn Hollabaugh and a brother Roy Raby, Jr.

Friends may call Monday January 22, 2001 from 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 am in Southside Christian Church, 2055 Middle-Bellville Road, with the Revs. Gary and Faith Proietti officiating. Private interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
