Glenville C. (Red) Marcum, 79, of Ostrander, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, following an extended illness. He was born March 30, 1930 in Crum, West Virginia to the late Kenny and Nellie (Marcum) Marcum. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army, where he received many medals. He was a diesel mechanic for many years. He was a former member of the Sunbury Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, and listening to Bluegrass music. He is survived by: his wife- Loretta (Taylor) Marcum of 51 years, 5 sons: Glenville, Jr. and Paul Marcum of Ostrander, Kenneth (Debbie) Marcum of Jacks Creek, TN, John (Kay) Marcum of Marengo, and David (Linda) Marcum of Delaware; 9 grandchildren: Misty, Jessica, Jason, Kristy, Tasha, Justin, Johnny, Brittany, and Alex; 7 great-grandchildren: Jillian, Bryant, Cameron, Katie, Jed, Hannah, and Colton; a sister: Glennis (Wayne) Slone of Johnstown, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Curtis and Reford Marcum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 5-8pm, in the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. Graveside services will be held on Friday, at 11:30 am., in the Newhouse Cemetery, Ostrander. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, (Delaware County Office, Andrews House, 39 W. Winter St., Delaware, OH 43015). The family would like to cordially invite all those in attendance to join them for a luncheon at the Scioto Township Fire Department Hall, following the graveside service.
