Glen “Wayne” Johnston Sr., age 73 of Westerville passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Manor Care in Westerville with his children and friends by his side.

He was born on February 10, 1937 in Logan, WV to the late Glen G. Johnson and Delores (McClure) Sparks. A US Army veteran and welder for 37 years, he was a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union No. 189.

A life member of AMVets, he was a true working man, from the old school. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and was an avid Michigan fan. He followed NASCAR and in his younger years was a motorcycle enthusiast, especially Gold Wings.

Survived by son: Glen “John” Johnston Jr. of Delaware, daughter: Cheryl (John) Woodman of Westerville, Great-nephew: Jason (Amber) Johnson and their children: Chase, Logan, and Alex. His first wife of 24 years, best friend, and mother of his children: Linda Johnston of Delaware, his beloved Corgi “Brody” and Brody’s adoptive father Gary Longshore, other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 19 years: Aileen (Day) Johnston in 2010, sister and dear friend: Phyllis (Jim) Sparks, and nephew Steve Johnson.

Friends may call Thursday February 10, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. with a memorial service at 8 p.m. with Pastor Joe Buckles officating at the Berkshire Campground Party House, 1848 Alexander Drive, Galena, Ohio 43021
