Geraldine “Myrt” Lancaster, 97, of West Union Street, Mount Gilead, Ohio died Thursday, October 09, 2003 in Woodside Village.

She was a lifelong Mt. Gilead resident, where she was born Feb. 9, 1906, the daughter of the late Robert and Lucy Shaffer Brown. She graduated from the Mount Gilead High School in 1923. She worked as a stenographer for H.P.M. Corporation and as an assembler for North Electric. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Women’s Missionary Society, and the Rainbow Twig.

She is survived by two sons Joe Lancaster of Galion, Ohio, Mike (Marlene) Lancaster of Mount Gilead, Ohio; two daughters Joan (Kenneth) Baird of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Sally (Lew) Parsons of Enon, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death on Dec. 25, 1974 by her husband Elga A. Lancaster, whom she married Aug. 30, 1926. She was also preceded in death by three sons Robert, Jack and Jerry Lancaster, a daughter Shirley J. Long, two brothers Carl and Richard Brown, and a sister Alice J. Hartwell.

Friends may call at the Craven Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Rev. Dennis Braun will conduct funeral services in the First Presbyterian Church on Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Rivercliff Cemetery.
