Geraldine Edna Mann, age 91, of Centerburg, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Retired after 20 years of service in the kitchen/dietary department at Manor Care Nursing Center.  Geraldine was a natural born caretaker, often feeding and housing those in need in addition to her own 10 children and grandchildren.  She was also a strong woman, willing and able to stand up for herself despite her petite size.

Preceded in death by husband, Marcus H. Mann, Sr.; parents, James D. and Disa Thornton; daughters, Dianna Maloney; Lori Mann, Marcia Mann; sons-in-law, Elbie Swint and Daniel Maloney: 8 brothers and sisters.

Survived by sons, Marcus (Cathy) Mann, Jr. of Johnstown, Donald (Teresa) Mann of Cardington; daughters, Catherine Swint of Johnstown, Virginia (Roy) Gray of Centerburg, Vivian (Chet) Bullard of Jacksonville, FL, Penny Murrhee of Hilliard, FL, Dolly (Shawn) Miller of Delaware; brother, Harold “Bud” (Marge) Thornton of Columbus; and at last count 159 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call 10 AM to 12 Noon on Monday, November 19, 2018 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61, (at SR3), Sunbury, where Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon.  Chaplain Dave Matos officiating.  Interment Fancher Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, OH 44805 in Gerry’s memory.

  • Mrs.Mann was a fine lady.She treated me as one of her own growing up with Mark and Cathy.I loved her dearly.She never complained and was always there to help.Her pancakes were OUTSTANDING !! 🙂 She will be missed !
