Gerald W. Young, 82, of 5527 Lime Road, Galion died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at home after a one year illness.

Born January 31, 1921 in Galion, he was the son of the late Wilbur Young and Mary Treisch Young.

He was a graduate of attended Galion High School and a member of Peace Lutheran Church, American Legion Scarbrough Post #243, Galion, VFW Post #4329 and the National Rifle Association.

He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and served in the European Theatre. He was discharged as a Sergeant from the 329th Quartermaster Company.

He retired from the Galion Post Office where he was a custodian and prior to that he worked at the former North Electric for 26 years.

Surviving are his wife Ruby B. West Young whom he married January 6, 1946, a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Rex Eichelberger, a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Flo Young, of Galion, six grandchildren, Kimberly Bercaw, Ryan Eichelberger, Chad Young, Matt Young, Lisa Roberts and Lori LaChance and
eight great-grandchildren.

At Gerald’s and his family’s request, private calling hours and services were held Wednesday, June 4 followed by private graveside services at Shuck Cemetery in Johnsville

Arrangements were handled by Richardson-Davis Funeral Home.
