Gerald Louis McQuillen passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Kobacher House in Columbus surrounded by his family. He was 83.

He was born July 21, 1935 in Ashland County to parents William Willard & Grace (Brockway) McQuillen. After he was graduated from Ashland High School with the class of 1954, he proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps.

Gerald “Mac” worked as a tool and die maker and wire PDM with General Motors for over 50 years retiring in 2006. In spare time, he took pleasure in golfing at Twin Lakes, Possum Run, and Pebble Creek and was a member of multiple leagues. In younger years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, racing with the family, and flying RC planes. He will be remembered as a loving family man who was a caring father, father-in-law, and grandfather.

He is survived by six children: Brenda McQuillen of Lucas, Tim (Judy) McQuillen of Jackson, TN, Chris (Jeanette) McQuillen of Lucas, Lora (Marion) Adkins of Butler, Jeff (Carrie) McQuillen of Butler, and Todd (Mary) McQuillen of Butler; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; sister Frances Bright of Jacksonville, FL; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his grandson Dillon Adkins and 10 siblings.

His family will receive friends Friday, August 10, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home (81 Mill Road). A funeral service honoring Gerald’s life will begin at 12 p.m. officiated by Pastor Patrick Bailey. Military honors at the funeral home will be performed by American Legion Post #535 of Bellville.
