Gerald E. “Shorty” Fulkerson, 93, of Galion, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at home.

Born Oct. 30, 1919 in Galion, he was the son of the late Glen R. and Edith C. Rife Fulkerson. He was preceded in death on Nov. 12, 2003 by his wife, Myrtle M. Hindman Fulkerson whom he married on June 22, 1941.

Shorty attended Galion Schools and was a World War II U. S. Army veteran serving from 1942 to 1945. He was a life member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion and worked at the former North Electric, Burch Corporation in Crestline for 29 years and retired from the Gledhill Road Machinery.

He loved to bowl, pitch horse shoes, fish, tend to his garden and was very proud of the melons he would grow.

He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Fulkerson of Bucyrus; one daughter-in-law, Judy Fulkerson of Galion; two grandchildren, Regina Fulkerson of Galion and Jeremy Fulkerson of Va.; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Miller and Alexandra Miller; one sister, Rosella Spears of Portsmouth, N.H.; one brother and sister-in-law, David C. and Virginia Fulkerson of Galion and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard and David Fulkerson and one sister, Jean Avola.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, with Rev. Dreama Caudill officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Military graveside honors will be conducted by the United States Army.
