Gerald D. “Jake” Wilson, 64, of Galion, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born June 4, 1947 in Akron, he was the son of the late Marden Edgar and Edna June Caris Wilson. He married Janet M. Smith Bland-Wilson on September 1, 2004 and she survives.
Jake was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the V.F.W. Post 4329 and Polk Twp. AMVETS Post 1979 in Galion. He loved guns, shooting and explosives and was an excellent marksman and pool shark. He worked as a Union Pipefitter with Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 42 in Norwalk. He piped many large industrial and institutional buildings in Ohio and other states.
In addition to his wife he is also survived by one son, Grant Wilson of Galion; two step-children, Kevin Melissa Stewart of Crestline and Jason Brittney Bland of Mansfield; five step-grandchildren, Cody, Ian, Michael, Madison and McKensie; one sister and brother-in-law, Mernie and Jerry Bodman of Galion and one brother, Tim Wilson of Bucyrus.
In celebration of Jake’s life his family and friends will gather at the Galion V.F.W. December 30.
