MANSFIELD: Georgia Alice Moore, 97, died Monday evening, May 7, 2007 in Lexington Court Care Center following a short illness.
She was born March 7, 1910 in Richland County to Atwood B. and Flora (Oberlin) Barr and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1929.
On June 18, 1937 she married Samuel J. Moore, who preceded her in death in 1957.
Georgia enjoyed and proved herself a fantastic cook. She worked in the Madison School system for 16 years retiring in 1961.
She was a strong supporter of the schools and often volunteered her time and talents in school functions.
A lifelong area resident, Georgia was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janice and Ken Walker of Sandusky, two sons and a daughter-in-law David and Norma Moore of Vancouver, Washington, and Jerry Moore of Mansfield, a daughter-in-law Mary Jo Moore, eleven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, her dear friend Betty Grafton and her family of Mansfield, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Samuel Moore in 1998, a great granddaughter Amber Zurcher, a step great grandson Theodore (Skip) Cowaski four brothers Lloyd, Raymond, Robert, and Don Barr, and four sisters Nina Paxton, Harriet Swisher, Martha Barr, and Mildred Barr.
Friends may call Friday, May 11, 2007 from 5-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 am at Bellville Cemetery. A memorial service will follow Saturday at 11 am in First English Lutheran Church, Mansfield, with Pastors Cloyd Cress and Paul Larson officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to First English Lutheran Church or MedCentral Hospice may be made at the funeral home.
