George R. Fadely

George R. Fadely, 87, formerly of 301 S. Columbus St., Galion and later Jekyll Island, Ga. died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 at Woodside Village in Mt. Gilead.
Born April 9, 1919 in Marion, he was the son of the late Orlie Fadely and Cordelia O’Day Fadely. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Bauer Fadely, whom he married Aug. 30, 1940.
He graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1937 and later from Bliss College in Columbus.
George served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and Galion Masonic Lodge 414 F. & A.M. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 where he had served as the post commander. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father and dearly loved his grandchildren. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He retired after 42 years at North Electric in Galion and moved to Georgia and enjoyed being a starter at Jekyll Island Golf Course for 18 years.
Also surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Sandy and Tom Hetzel of Iberia, Bev Price of Boca Raton, Fla. and Judy Grafton of Galion; one son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Paula Fadely of Pompano Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
His brother, Carl Fadely, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will follow at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, with Rev. Bradley Smith officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in Iberia Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the Galion/Crestline area veteran’s organizations.
