It sounds like you have a wonderful family andI know Mr. Mirka had a life very well lived!

  • Coach Mirka was a great coach and a better man…he coached me through my entire high school career at Worthington High School, and I learned many things from him…including the fact that we both had large heads, I wore the same helmet in high school that Coach wore when he played with the Columbus Colts…he was a great man! I will miss him!

  • RIP Mr Mirka. You were one of the most memorable teachers at Normandy. May your family find peace at this time.

  • So sorry for your loss. Mr. Mirka was my biology teacher at Normandy. He was a great teacher who made the class both educational and fun. He was one of the really good ones who made an impression on young minds. I was so sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in eternal peace.

  • George had an enormous influence on my life as a coach and friend. He embodied all of the qualities I admire and aspired to emulate. I wish I could be there to give Judy a gigantic hug. My condolences go to the entire family.

  • Mr Mirka was my biology teacher and my track coach. Such a nice man who was always there with an upbeat, encouraging word. I remember learning how to identify trees because of his class and it gave me such an appreciation for the beauty of trees. Rest In Peace, Mr Mirka, I’m so sorry we lost touch. And peace to your family at this time.

  • Mr Mirka took such pride in coaching and had a personal investment in all his runners at Normandy. He took the time to speak with my parents and encouraged me to do whatever I wanted to do. He had true confidence and pushed us to limits that we were unaware we could accomplish. I have thought about him often over the years. He was THAT coach/teacher who made a huge difference in my life. My condolences to the entire Mirka family. May your memories help you through this difficult time.

  • Dear Judy,
While we are sad for you and ourselves, we celebrate George’s faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Oh how George smiled when he heard the Savior say to him, “Well done thy good and faithful servant. Come and share in your Master’s happiness”. Wow! George is there! Experiencing things we can only imagine! Our prayers are for you and your families as you plan and celebrate and rest in Jesus. Thanks for your friendship and for mentoring and believing in Dana and me. We love you very much!

  • I remember only a few teachers from Normandy high school by name, but I do have fond memories of Mr. Mirka’s 10th grade biology class. I’ll never forget his terrific teaching style and totally unfashionable (for 1973) crew cut! Rest In Peace to a wonderful educator.

  • Judy, Prayers are with you and your family . May God give you alll peace and comfort as you remember all the good times you had together. Evelyn Winter

  • Love and prayers are with you and your family Aunt Judy. Uncle George could light up a room with his larger than life personality. His laugh was contageous and the light on the inside of him drew so many to Jesus. I am so blessed to have know him and I look forward to the day when we get to meet again in heaven.
