George Barnette, age 86 of Powell passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at Riverside Hospital.
He was born in Clayton, Indiana on December 18, 1931 to the late Isaac and Nannie (Falin) Barnette.
Never one with idle hands, George retired as a supervisor with Western Electric. He then worked as salesman with the local Saturn Dealership, as an associate with Rodman-Neeper Funeral Home, and most recently with Powell Village Self Storage.
He married the former Betty Hickman in 1951 and together they raised their family and shared in life’s journey through 61 years. Sadly she passed away in 2013.
George was a faithful and active member of Highpoint Nazarene Church in Delaware, where he taught Sunday school. Proud of and loyal to his family, he will be remembered for his hardworking and caring ways.
He is survived by sons: Greg (Kim) Barnette of Powell and Randy (Joan) Barnette of Columbus, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Ruth Barnette Brown (Doyle Tipton), brother Bobbie (Dora) Barnette, brother-in-law Bill Hays, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by 2 sons, 6 siblings,and 1 grandchild.
Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Sunday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr., Delaware, Ohio 43015. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Monday at the Highpoint Nazarene Church, 795 Pollock Rd., Delaware, where Rev. Mike Cheek will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
