George A. Wallace

George Albert Wallace, 80, of Delaware died suddenly Sunday, December 31, 2017 in the emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital.

He was born on April 30, 1937 in Columbus to the late Charles and Clara M. (Holdcroft) Wallace. A US Marine Corps veteran, he proudly served in the second division and retired from the Air National Guard. George also retired from Lennox and then Liebert Corp.

A member of the Marine Corps League, he was also a member of the American Legion 2nd Marine Div., AmVets and American Legion of Columbus, Marine Corps AmTrac Assoc., Air Force Sergeants Assoc., 8th and I Marine Barracks of Washington, DC and life member of Belleau Wood Detachment #508 of Columbus and Sgt. Justin F. Hoffman Detachment #1437 of Delaware.

George enjoyed traveling, talking with his dog Chase, feeding the birds and watching old TV shows.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Arlene (Theiss) Wallace; half-brother Allen Wallace of San Diego, CA; in-laws, Avis and Vernon Harrison of Florida.

In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his daughter Wilma Chapman in 1986 and his brother Robert Holdcroft.

Friends may call Friday, January 5th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. St. Rt. 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 where services will follow at 1:00 pm with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association. Burial will take place at Northlawn Memory Gardens in Westerville.
