Geneva A. Jordan

June 12, 1932 ‒ August 09, 2015

Sunbury, Ohio

Jordan GenevaGeneva A. Jordan was a survivor with a warm and kindred spirit. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future – even after losing her ability to walk. For many years, she was loved and tenderly cared for at home. At the age of 83, Geneva A. Jordan, of Sunbury, Ohio, went to join her Lord and Savior at her residence surrounded by her family and friends on August 9th, 2015.

Geneva was born June 12, 1932, and grew up in Kaw City, Oklahoma, to the late Lloyd and Florence (Dodson) Jones.  She was married for 33 years to the late Leo C. Jordan, united as husband and wife on February 21st, 1963, in the Galena United Methodist Church where they were members. She was also a member of the Zoar Rebecca Lodge in Galena. Geneva was a retired medical technician who worked at Community Hospital in Arkansas City, Kansas; Jane M. Case hospital in Delaware; and for Dr. R.H. Bullock in Columbus.

Geneva had a smile that lit up a room and a great sense of humor.  Filled with compassion and interest in others, Geneva made friends easily and maintained contact with many, especially her neighbors. She took pride in caring for her family, friends, and neighbors by tending to their needs when they were sick making meals, shoveling their sidewalks and driveways and doing little things with great love.  She led by example and instilled in her family an importance of faith, family, and compassion.

When she was young, Geneva enjoyed playing tennis and basketball, and vacationing anywhere near lakes or oceans. She loved shopping with her daughter and would join her on out-of-town trips. Family trips were taken to The Great Lakes and Florida, so that Trudy could swim and Todd could fish. She took pride in keeping an immaculately clean home and would be cleaning as she walked out the front door to ensure that everything was in order for their return.

Geneva is survived by her daughter: Trudy Jordan McClaskey of Ohio; son: Todd Jordan of Arkansas; nephews: Wayne and Mark Williams of Arkansas; Preceded in death by her husband: Leo C. Jordan on October 13, 1996; brothers: Jack and Wallace Williams.

Friends may call 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with service beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12th, at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, SR 3 at 61, Pastor Dirk Wooten officiating.  Interment will follow in the Galena Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Galena United Methodist Church in Galena, Ohio, or SourcePoint of Delaware County in Delaware, Ohio.
