MANSFIELD: Gene L. Rinehart passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following an extended battle with cancer. He was 60.
Gene was born April 29, 1956 in Mansfield the son of Calvin & Betty (Quinn) Rinehart and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1974.
Gene worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years until retiring in 2014. He was a member of the Ohio Rural Letter Carriers Assoc. and followed in his father’s footsteps, who was also a mail carrier.
In spare time, Gene enjoyed tinkering with cars, watching sports, going out to eat with family and friends, and taking day trips with his son Ryan to Hollywood Casino.
He is survived by his wife Molly Rinehart of Bellville; children (& spouses) Ryan & Nikki Rinehart of Mansfield, Brennan & Rachel Bartrum of Kentucky, Cody & Laura Jo Bartrum of Bellville, and Randy & Mariah Bartrum of Michigan; grandchildren Bronson, Emery, and Arwin Bartrum with two on the way; his mother Betty Rinehart of Lexington; sister Erleen & Harrell Gillis of Silverspring, MD; brothers James & Stephanie Rinehart of Sycamore, Lowell & Becky Rinehart of Lee, Florida, and David & Carol Rinehart of Galion; a special godson Garrett; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service celebrating his life will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday with additional visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Karen Wagenhals and Rev. Millissa Hartson will officiate and burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
Contributions in his memory to Steam Corners United Methodist Church may be made at the funeral home.
