Gene Fitzpatrick, 71 of Marengo, died unexpectedly Sunday (May 19, 2002) morning in the Emergency Room at Morrow County Hospital.
He was born in Galion, Ohio on June 18, 1930 to the late James and Velma (Weaver) Fitzpatrick. He had lived in Marengo since 1947 and was a Korean Conflict Army Veteran. Owned and operated Gene’s Auto Service in Marengo for 42 years. Member of American Legion Post #710 in Marengo, Oakland Conservation Club and he enjoyed fishing.
Survived by his wife of 47 years: Edna Mae Steck and they were married September 25, 1954 in Mt. Gilead; Sons and Daughters-in-law: Tom & Pat of Marengo and Tim & Connie of Sunbury; 4 Grandchildren: Emily, Clay, Jason and Lauren, 2 Great Grandchildren. Brothers: Don (Valda) of Mt. Gilead and Joe (Wanda) of Galion; Sisters: Dorthea (Doyle) Rogers of Mt. Gilead, Katy Bucksbaum of Galion and Barbara Booth of Nevada.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229, Marengo where services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Beverly Hall officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Marengo Legion Post #710 will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
