Gary R. Hannaford

August 25, 1941 ‒ July 26, 2020

Loudonville, Ohio

Gary Hannaford, age 78 of Loudonville, Ohio died Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital, in Mansfield, Ohio after decades of battling cancer.

Gary was born on the 25th of August 1941 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of John Herbert Hannaford and Mary Devena Mae Bradburn.  He is survived by two sons, Jeffery Hannaford, Crestview, Florida, and John Hannaford, Loudonville, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to Jason, son of Jeff; and Katey and Emily, daughters of John; and one great-grandchild, Atticus, son of Jason.

After graduating High School and with two sons Gary took work with Johnson and Johnson as a catering truck operator. After a short period, Gary took his two sons and moved to Grandview, Ohio where he embarked on a long journey with A. B. Dick Company first as a printing and copy machine repairman and then as a salesman culminating in over 20 years.

From there Gary moved to Rolling Meadows, Illinois.  As fate would have it, this is where he met the love of his life, Sherri Shilling. The two would move several times making a better life for themselves and a loving home for their sons and grandchildren finally settling down in Loudonville in 1994.

Decency, reliability, honor, dignity, respect, integrity: these are just a short list of qualities that Gary not only held these values in high esteem but practiced and demanded from his family every day during his time on this earth.  His friends saw him as a very devoted husband, a steadfast friend and his church saw him as a committed deacon and the community appreciated him as a respected member of the community.

To sum up Gary it is known to many; if they said “his soul would make tears flow from eyes that would flood rivers”, you would have still be chosen. If they would have said “Gary’s time on earth would be short” you would have still be chosen.

There will be a short graveside service, honoring the life of Gary R. Hannaford, at the Loudonville Cemetery on Saturday, August 1, 2020, starting at 10 a.m.  If you are unable to attend in person you can live steam the service on the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel Facebook page.

Memorial contributions, in honor of Gary R. Hannaford, may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 222 East Main Street, Loudonville, Ohio 44842.
