Gary Penney passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2019 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was 3 days shy of his 78th birthday.

Gary was born Valentine’s Day 1941 in Mansfield to parents Charles & Catherine (Beal) Penney. After graduating Mansfield Senior with the class of 1959, he proudly served his country by joining the US Navy Seebees. A beautiful young lady named Penelope Patch caught his eye and the pair married on December 2, 1988.

Gary worked as a model builder with Gorman Rupp for over 33 years before retiring. He was a member of American Legion post #16 and was a huge Cleveland sports fan always cheering on the Browns and Indians.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Penny Penney of Lexington; children Russell Penney of Columbus, Eric (Kerri) Schmid of Gambier, Margo (Mark) Gupton of Jacksonville, FL, and Brian Schmid of Cocolalla, ID; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Miriam Penney of Mansfield.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Penney, Jr.
