Mount Gilead: Gary N. Beam, 78, of Mount Gilead, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at his home.

He was born September 16, 1937, in Lebanon, Ohio, son to Charles Beam and Madeline LaBelle Chapman.

A graduate of Johnsville High School, He married Margaret Ann Yetzer on October 14, 1961, and enjoyed 54 years of marriage together.

Along with spending time with his family, Gary also enjoyed collecting vintage automobiles and watching sports. He was a fan of NASCAR (especially Sterling Marlin) Indy cars, the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cleveland Indians.

He was a member of Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church.

Gary built car washes by trade, and was instrumental in the introduction of automatic car washes to the area.

Surviving are his loving wife Margaret Ann Beam of Mt. Gilead; sons Michael “Mick” Beam of Mt. Gilead and Patrick (Molly) Beam of Cleveland; grandchildren Tiffany (Chris) Zeger, Taylor Beam, Madeline Beam, and Ashley Hatcher; four great grandchildren Mackenzie, Madison, Jillian, and Beau Zeger; sister Dianne (Richard) Harvey of Johnsville, and his fury companions Ozzy and Roscoe.

The family will receive friends in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home on Wednesday June 15, 2016 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral services for Gary will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 11am.  Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Richland County Humane Society may be made at the funeral home.
