Garrett “Bud” Saunders

Garrett “Bud” Saunders, 66, of Marion died Thursday afternoon, September 12, 2007, at his home.
He was born on May 29, 1941 in Ironton, Ohio the son of the late Isaac and Elma (Loper) Saunders.
Garrett has been a resident of Marion since moving here from Ironton when he was 18. Upon his arrival in Marion he met Janice Shoffner. They were married on August 26, 1967. They have spent 40 wonderful years together.
He worked for 15 years at Marion Bronze as a machine operator before his retirement in 1985 . While his job was that of a machine operator his passion was working on cars; rebuilding starters and alternators.
Garrett would make trips up to northern Ohio to fish Lake Erie. He enjoyed the peace and solitude that fishing would bring him.
He will be remembed as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Garrett loved being at home spending time with those he loved.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his two sons Greg (Audra Pennington) Saunders of Marion and Tommy (former wife Joanna) Saunders; three grandchildren Karena, Brock, and Alexis Saunders; and three sisters Thelma (Don) Shephard of Marion, Normie of Wellston, Ohio and Kay of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Clark and Ronnie; and three sisters Vern, Wilda, and Carol.
Funeral services will be held on Monday September 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion with Rev. Paul McKenzie officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge.
