Gabriel R. Callahan, age 34 of Dublin passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Riverside Hospital.

Born on January 27, 1982 in Columbus he graduated from Olentangy High School in 2001.  With dreams and aspirations of becoming a chef, he graduated Columbus Culinary Institute at Bradford School.  Throughout his career as a culinary chef he worked at several restaurants’ including: The Cheese Cake Factory, Moretti’s, and Mud Flats.

Of Catholic faith, he enjoyed his Weimaraner dogs, fishing and held a black belt in karate. He will be remembered for his many acts of kindness, wit, and engaging smile.

He is survived by his mother and step father Mary Ann (Johnson ) and John Carleton of Delaware, father Michael Callahan of Gahanna, brothers Jeremy Callahan, Todd Jones, sisters Tama and Larissa Carleton, grandmother Charlotte Callahan, several aunts, uncles, extended family and many loving friends.

Gabriel was preceded in death by his beloved wife Caton E. (Ellwood) in 2013, grandparents: Martha, Anne, and Tillman Johnson, Patricia and John Carleton, Bill Callahan, and Aunt Liz DeWolfe.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware, Ohio 43015 with Rev. Michael Watson Celebrant.  Friends and family are then invited back to the community room of Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr., Delaware for a time of food and fellowship. Inurnment will follow at a later date in St. Mary Cemetery.
