MANSFIELD: G. Parry Leiter, 101, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in Mansfield MedCentral Hospital.

Born March 27, 1912 in Lucas, Parry was the son of Paige and Leta (Parry) Leiter. As a young boy, Parry grew up in Lucas. He learned countless life lessons which forged his character and work ethic while growing up during the depression. Parry hunted and fished as a boy. The oldest boy, he helped shoulder the responsibility of feeding his family.

While still a teenager, Parry was drafted into the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was also trained as an electrician. After the war, Parry worked locally for the highway department, railroad and steel mill. He later worked and retired from Gorman Rupp as assembler and electrician.

Parry enjoyed playing cards, traveling and eating out. He was most proud of his grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.

Parry attended Berean Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son Gary Leiter of Youngstown, grandchildren Megan Leiter of Kettering and Keith (Lyn) Leiter of Findlay; numerous extended family and a large circle of close friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth Leiter and daughter-in-law Nancy Leiter.

The Leiter family selected the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home for compassionate cremation services.
