Frederick “Ozzie” Schubert, age 75, of Teryl Dr., Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, December 08, 2003 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born December 3, 1928 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin the son of the late Frederick Andrew and Laura (Simon) Schubert and had been a resident of the Mt. Vernon area for 23 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1947-1950. Mr. Schubert retired in 1995 after 16 years of employment as an engineer with Cooper Energy Services. He was a member of the Graham Owners Club International, Veteran of Foreign Wars in Milwaukee, WI and Faith Lutheran Church. Mr. Schubert was also actively involved with the A crew of the 1974 Hughes Glomar Explorer Project which dealt with the raising of the K129 Russian sub.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ina (Kurth) Schubert, whom he married February 14, 1953, two sons; Fred (Cindy) Schubert and Andy (Shawnett) Schubert both of Mt. Vernon, two daughters; Debra (Larry) Childs of Carrolton, TX and Barbara Carlin of Slidell, LA, ten grandchildren; Jennifer, James and John Garvey, Alan, Steven and Vanessa Schubert, Bryan and David Johnson, Melissa and Matthew Carlin, a great-granddaughter; Emilee Carlin, a brother; George “Bud” (Grace) Schubert and a sister Margaret Rieke both of Sturgeon Bay, WI.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11AM at the Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Pastor Mark Wildermuth will be officiating.
