MANSFIELD: Fred H. Van Gorder, Jr., 88, formerly of Blymyer Avenue, Mansfield, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 in Mansfield Memorial Homes following an extended illness.

He was born August 28, 1917 to Fred H., Sr., and Bessie Mae (Curl) Van Gorder in Detroit, Michigan.

Fred was a master electrician and worked as an independent electrical contractor for over 30 years in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida retiring in 1980, then moved to Mansfield.

A true outdoorsman, Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two daughters Judy Mazurek, and Terri A. Lowe both of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, a son and daughter-in-law Fred H., III and Carol Van Gorder of Okeechobee, Florida, five grandchildren Kimberley, Dorene, Fred H., IV, Dawn and Todd, several great grandchildren, and his former wife Irene Whisler of Mansfield.

A sister and a brother preceded him in death.

Private services will be observed in Florida. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
