Fred G. Farley

Fred G. Farley, age 80, of Pleasant Valley Road, Utica, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon.
He was born on December 18, 1931 in Ghent, West Virginia to the late Charlie and Mary Farley. He was employed as the Fire Chief for the Rickenbacker National Guard Base Fire Department. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War. Fred was a member of the Owl Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his grandsons. But most of all, Fred enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Rob) Pearcy of Smyrna, Tennessee, JoAnn (Dan) Swonger of Utica; five grandchildren, Lisa Pearcy, Jeremy (Christina) Swonger, Vickie Swonger, Frank Swonger, Michael Swonger; his brother James Edward (Joann) Farley of North Carolina and his sister Faye Davis.
Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife Gladdine (Adams) Farley.
Friends may call on Tuesday, from 6-8PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held on Wednesday, at the funeral home, beginning at 11AM. Graveside services, with military honors provided by the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail, will follow in Franklin Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Canal Winchester beginning at 2:30PM.
